It's about time

Well to start off I haven't been writing at all!!!! I never know what to write about, and I have been busy for the last couple of months!!!

But I did want to keep all of you informed that you have read Brett's blog about my medical condtions and I have talked about it some on here a few times, but this next Tuesday I will have my deposition for my medical malpratice case.

(I wish that I could go into details about it, but I will when it is all said and done.)

So I just wanted to say if you wanted to say a prayer, hail mary, or whatever it is you do on Tuesday morning for me it would be much appreciated.

Nothing else much is going on with the DJ business trying to stay busy and I really want to say that "wedding season" is coming to a close!!!! Thank goodness....(I even went to Kentucky for a wedding last weekend!!! Totally Rocked the House!!!!

Just so I stay with the beat here is the DJ song of the post!!!! Can't get this song out of my head!!!

Living Life to the fullist!!!

Hey everyone,

LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

I just wanted to say that I think that I blog the most when I can't sleep.  I have posted a lot at odd times and this is no different.

There is nothing speical why I am blogging tonight, nothing really excited has happened, and I think that I was the only person tonight, that didn't go and see the new batman movie tonight at midnight, like a lot of my friends did tonight.

One another note, I checked my stats tonight on my blog and I have 12 followers now (thanks to all) and I have had 1,600 views since I have started this back last year which is really neat!!!!

There are somethings in my life that are going really well, but others are still not quite there.

My business is booming!!! It's Wedding Season here and its been going great!!! Plus my weekly shows are going really well too.

I heard a really funny joke the other day and I thought that I would share it will all of you...

In reference to my dating life,

"The reason that I'm 30 single (never married and no kids) is because I didn't forward all those chain letters when I was 12!!!"

I read that off a twitter post and I have been laughing at that ever since.  Its really funny and maybe true, but time will only tell...

She still hasn't returned it!!
So its 332am on Friday morning and I have cleaned up the house and did some laundry and I just waiting to go to my Prayer breakfast at 6am so I still have a long way to long to get there.  I also had a rough time yesterday with the heat.  I have an older pickup truck and the heat wave has been hotter than  anything I could compare it too, well maybe Megan Fox eating breakfast, in my favorite white t shirt..(lol...),  I also do not have air condition  in my truck and I had to run a bunch errands! So the heat really got to me today, I also had a blood drive that I volunteered at my church as well.  So when I got home I was hot, hungry, and tired.  So I did what any other bachelor would do I order pizza.  Not a smart thing to do when you want to eat and go to bed.  So here I am awake, awake, and more awake!!!

Well, thanks again to my followers, and with two big shows coming today and tomorrow I am looking forward to Sunday where I can get some rest!!!

Teddy bears, strippers, and preachers

Well first off it is good to be blogging again!!!! I have taken some time off and wanted to say to all of my 8 followers (lol) that here it is.  I have been thinking to myself what I wanted to blog about and it hit me just two days ago...

I wanted to try my first movie review.  I have never done anything like this before and I want it to be good so here it goes.

The movie that I went and saw was "TED."  I had to drag Preach (aka Brett from Transformed Nonconformist).

Seth Macfarlane
"Ted" is a new movie that came out not to long ago, but the main reason we wanted to see it was because of the creator Seth Macfarlane.  Seth is the creator of many TV shows like Family Guy and American Dad to name a few.  He has a reputation of being crazy, dirty, and sometimes just down right wrong, with all of his fart jokes, and using the f bomb way too much.

For his big-screen directorial debut, Seth MacFarlane has made a traditional buddy comedy, in much the same way his animated TV show, “Family Guy, which is to say, he works within a framework, while simultaneously tearing it to shreds.

He couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Mark Wahlberg, an excellent, and eternally underappreciated, straight man. In the past, Wahlberg has generously ceded the spotlight to Christian Bale (“The Fighter”), Will Ferrell (“The Other Guys”).  Here, he plays second string to a toy.

The story, which MacFarlane wrote with “Family Guy’s” Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, introduces us to a lonely child named John, who wishes for his stuffed bear to come to life. Magically enough, it actually happens.

In another movie, John might have learned some valuable lessons from this miracle.

In this movie, John (Wahlberg) grows up to become an aimless Boston slacker whose extended adolescence is enabled by his equally juvenile stuffed animal. (The expertly computer-animated Ted is voiced by MacFarlane.)

Even John realizes there are issues in living with a talking teddy bear — chief among them, the waning patience of his girlfriend, Lori (Mila Kunis). She wants to settle down. Ted, who has the focus of an overindulged frat boy, just wants to party. And John is stuck in the middle.

Working girls!!!!
“Family Guy” fans will find that MacFarlane’s brand of skewed humor translates easily to the big screen, built as it is on razor-sharp pop-culture references, unabashedly bad taste and surprising flashes of sweetness.
Nice suit

Not every joke scores, of course. But the hits are worth the misses, and anyway, the movie’s true genius is in the way its outlandish scenario is played so perfectly straight.

Really, it doesn’t matter. True chemistry is hard to find. And by some stroke of movie magic — or sheer skill — Wahlberg and the bear make a pretty great team.

Even the President and the First Lady Party with Ted.

I have never laughed so hard in my entire life!!!! There are so many pop culture references that will keep you laughing til the end.  I hope that I have ruined the movie and you will go and see it for yourself.

Also I was at the tail end of being an 80's kid but, there are some really funny cameos that appear in the movie as well.

PS I have my own teddy bear when I was a kid....Yes it main stream.  Look in the upper right hand corner....Yep Teddy Ruxpin!!!
Epic Win!!! Also another pic of me in the hospital!!! It never ends!!!

My first (Red) Award

First off I want to say that I am sorry that I haven't posted in almost a month!!!! I have had the pleasure of meeting "Red" and I told her about my award and that I really didn't know how they worked so I asked her to do a guest post!!!! Here it is.....

Hi Readers of Train's! – Red, here, of Doesn't Speak Klingon. Train has been granted the Kreativ Blogger award, and chose this occasion to have me write a guest post! I have to say, I've had a lot of fun with it, and I hope you all do, too. Of course, he has the option to edit whatever he likes, or just to clarify my errors and exaggerations in the comment section. Shall we begin?

First, as with most awards, there are rules.

THE RULES:
1.    Thank and link back to the awarding blog.
2.    Answer seven questions.
3.    Provide 10 random factoids about yourself.
4.    Hand the award on to 7 deserving others. (I don't have that many followers so I told "Red" to pick some of the bloggers that she think deserve it the most.  All of my followers already have this award.)

Train's award came from Rachel of When a Lion Sleeps, LetHim Sleep. Rachel is a really gifted blogger.  I think that I was her second or third follower.  She always has a great way of expressing herself.  You may be wondering how I can possibly answer the seven personal questions included in this award. The answer is simple: Read on.

1.      What is your favorite song? I have some many it hard to choose but, the DJ song of the post will be at the bottom....It really depends on my mood.

2.      What is your favorite dessert? I will go out of my way to find a funnel cake. (Long story but, you can read about it here.

3.      What do you do when you are upset? I feel a need to explain what exactly is upsetting me to whoever is there to listen. It's my way of venting. More people should listen.

4.      Which is your favorite pet? When I was a kid, we had a dog named Martin. He died. I don't want to talk about it.

5.      Do you prefer white or wheat bread? White, of course!

6.      What is your greatest fear? Hospitals! I hate them. I've had continuous, repeated, negative experiences at hospitals, so I think this fear is justified.

7.      What is your attitude mostly? I think I can accurately describe my attitude as "can do". It's had to be that way ever since I lost my feet. I know I can do things, sometimes it's just a bit more difficult for me now.

...so those are the questions and answers.

Now for 10 random (possibly apocryphal) factoids about myself:

1.    It's time to come clean: I didn't really lose my feet to Lemierre's. I used to be a runner, winning 5K's, triathlons and marathons all over the place. Then one night as I was crossing the parking lot leaving my formerly favorite bar, I was abducted by aliens. It was very traumatic, and it's hard for me to talk about it even now. The short version is that they amputated my feet to try to learn my secret. I guess the aliens thought my speed and endurance as a runner came from my feet. But as every runner knows... The power to win comes from within!

2.      I spent a summer working as a fruit vendor in an open market in Morocco.

3.      My secret passion is pigeons. I have 15 homing pigeons who occupy my every waking moment (when I'm not DJ-ing, of course). That's why I don't post very often: my pigeons need me.

4.      I am a giant in the world of Physics. The physics of sound is my particular specialty. That's actually why I'm such an outstanding DJ. I know what I'm doing on the wavelength level.

5.      I find Amish girls in little floral dresses to be unbelievably sexy.

6.      I am a Taurus.

7.      This song give me nightmares: "Like a Surgeon"

8.      The Hulk is the best Avenger.

9.      My shoe size used to be 14 ½. Now it's a kids size 6. (stupid aliens.)

10.  In a previous life, Red and I ran with the same crowd. That's why I let her do this guest post: She knows me so well!

And 2 blogs I think you should know more about:

Icy Highs especially check out his music reccommendations. ("music recco" in his tag cloud)

Cranky & Difficult at "The View From OverHere" this blog is all movie reviews.

Wow!!! Just wow....I am blown away at how "Red" did this post without my help and I only changed a couple of things.... number 6 and 9 was the only thing that I changed!!! Thanks again "Red" for helping me with this...

Finally, I can get some rest

To all of my fans out there!!! (I think there is about 7 of you out there)

I have been running like crazy for the last two months and I glad that it has come to an end.

As you all know that I have been in and out of the ER dealing with health issues, and then also trying to work on my DJ business.  I have a blog in mind that I want to write, instead I have been trying to take some time to myself.  I just got home from a two day stay with my friends that I went to college with.  I have a strong group of guys that keep me sane.  We had a wonderful time, but its always great to be home.

I have a really busy morning/day/night today with running errands and getting ready for the busiest day that my business has had to overcome.

I'm going to be doing two shows today.  My first show is something that means a lot to me personally.  Its a prom/dance for a children's home with kids with disabilities.  Since I came disabled three years ago I jumped at the chance to show this kids that no matter what you can still achieve your dreams...so that is from 5-8 tonight.  Then I will drive 25mi to work a bar from 9:30 to 1:30.  So since you can see that my day started at 5:13am its going to be a long day, but it will be worth it.

Also in addition to all this I have been going to a mens prayer breakfast every Friday morning (I might miss a Friday or two) since I moved back to town 4 yrs ago.  I don 't know how long they have been meeting for sure but, will find out this morning. (update: found out that it has been going on between 10-12 yrs.)

So, inclosing I really feel good health wise (thanks be to God for that) and me and Brett are going to start going to the gym this weekend so that will be a great change.

Song of Post (Just came up with that), This song is a older country song but, my pops (who passed away in October really loved this song!!! He is also, the one who made me love country music!!!)

Living Life

Well, this week off has been a blast to say the least.  I have done really nothing all week, but go to church and relax (which I have needed I have been burning the candles at both ends for a while now).

Last night I was just hanging at my house when a friend of mine showed up unexpectedly.  His name is Steve, and he drives a semi-truck all over the country.  I went with him once, that is a whole other post altogether.

As you all know, I am a DJ in Southern IL.  Steve and I had a great adventure last night.  We went to all the places that I DJ.  I know that might not sound fun, but its really great seeing the people that I have met and its also really great to be noticed (kinda like a hometown celebrity).  There is the occasional "Hey DJ, you didn't play my song last week." or, "Hey DJ, you rock." or my favorite is "Hey DJ, do you know that song, I can't remember the name or how it goes?" My response to that one can get really funny at times.

Also, this week marks my birthday week.  I used to have the whole month of April but, now its just a week.  With my new business it's great during this time because not only am I working and making money, I'm always celebrating my birthday and not spending money which is great!

This wouldn't be a Train's whistle post without at least one picture from the night last night.  So here it is.
 Kels Kay and I

Also, tomorrow night I get to go back to the grade school that I attended. I am the DJ their 7th and 8th grade dance. Brett is going along, so that should be fun.  I will let Brett tell that story since he is much better at this than me.

So I am sure that this next week will be fun, tiring, and great all at the same time....

I got tagged!!!!!

Last week I was tagged in a post by Brett Minor at the Transformed Nonconformist. Brett is, by far, the funniest and smartest person I know. No one is a better person than him.

According to his post, I am to answer these 11 questions and then tag 11 more bloggers to answer them. I will not be able to tag anyone since the few people I follow have already been tagged by other people.

1. Book or movie and why?

I’ve been a movie buff since I was a little kid.  I always went to the movies even when I didn’t have anybody to go with.  When I was in the Navy in San Diego, the base had a free movie theater, so we went a lot!!!

2. Real book or e-book?

I haven’t really read an e-book expect my Bible on my phone and it’s great because I don’t have to have a lamp or hold a big Bible since it’s on my phone

3. Funniest thing you've done in the last 5 years?

When I’m out in public people ask me sometimes why I walk with a bad limp.  I have had some fun times with this.
Best one was when a friend and I were at a NCAA basketball game in STL and I was in my wheelchair. A guy asked me why I was in my chair and I told him that it was a Shark Attack.
The guy gasped and was taken back and then my buddy said not an actual shark, but a loan shark.

4. Do you put yourself into the books you read/write or the movies you watch?

Well, since I love movies (maybe more than the “Movie Whore”) I tend to feel like Keanu Reeves.  Sometimes, I feel like Bill from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures.  Other times I feel like him in The Matrix.  Lastly, I feel like I can beat demons in Constantine.

5. How would your best friend describe you?

This was taken from Brett’s blog just the other day so I will let his words be posted here
“With the writing of this post, hopefully my regular readers now know that the friend that I refer to is not a whiny home bound reject. In fact, he just got a date with one of the girls that was fixing his hair. He does actually have a brain and a life and goes to more places than just the hospital and bathroom.”

6. Favorite kind of car and why?
I’ve never had a new car and I’ve always paid cash for the vehicles I’ve had.  I was just talking about this today.

I have always wanted a purple Chevy Tahoe…They are big and awesome like me…and purple is a stand out color…plus I love Barney!!!!

7. Would your choice of party be a catered meal or barbecue out back?

I don’t want to sound corny or sappy but, my dad (aka Pops) was the best barbecue griller I know.  We had so many family cookouts the last year before he died last Oct.  I would give anything to taste his pork chops or Illinois potatoes on the smoker.  Not only was he a great cook, he was an even better man.

8. What's your favorite season and why?

I will attend Oktoberfest before I die.  Oktoberfest in Germany begins Saturday, September 22, 2012, and ends Sunday, October 7, 2012. I don’t think that I will make it this year, this picture should help

9. What specific lesson have you learned - Spiritual, educational, occupational?

Spiritually – For a long time, the Israelites couldn’t eat bacon.  That is why I think people were upset in the Old Testament.

Educationally     4xy+5x+-2b = b²-v5x      Screw this crap, I'll be a drug dealer

Occupational - I decided to burn lots of calories today......so, I set a fat kid on fire.

10. Besides writing, what's your favorite thing to do when you get some extra time?

I love music and I’m always working on music for my DJ shows or learning new music!!!
And getting ready for Bozo’s party of the year!!!!

11. What's one place you can be found at least one time every week?

This last year at Christmas my friend got me Ryan’s (it’s a buffet restaurant in my hometown) coupons that are buy one, get one free.  So I go to lunch with a lot of different people at least one a week.  Its like 5 bucks a person with the coupon.
P.S. Went there with Brett today…

Best night possible

Hi everyone!!! Its 537am and the last time that I posted a blog at this time it didn't turn out this well, but I am going to give it a try.

I HAD THE BEST NIGHT EVER!!!!!!

I have been DJ ing at a bar for the last 3 years and they have treated me like family since day one.  Its called Poplar Place.  I have met so many people from this place and built friendships that you wouldn't believe.

Tonight started like every other Friday night....I'm so tried that I didn't want to go to work like the rest of us do everyday of the week.  Today started off messed up.  I had to run errands that lasted pretty much the whole day (its was a terrible rainy day).  I had to work a show tonight at 930 so when i got done with my errands it was about 630 so I took a nap, and that is when the best night I have had in a long time happened.

This bar that I am talking about is 35 mins away from my house so its a long haul to have any friends that want to come with me to the show.  I understand that people don't want to drive that far and drink, then have to drive home.

Since I am handicap I always have a friend (or my brother) help me set up.  Tonight I had the pleasure of having Brett (aka Preach) help me setup.  The plan was he was going to just help me setup, but he didn't have any plans tonight so he ended up staying with me during the whole show (which I couldn't be more happy about).

When we got to the bar its was pretty dead for the most part.  But, things  quickly changed.  I start my show at 930ish, at 1015 tonight we had a party bus show up with about 50 people.  That is a big rush for a bar and also the DJ.  The bad part about it is that the group only stayed for one drink and they left.  The rest of the night was filled with rock, country, and hip hop music.

The following is some pictures of the night I hope that you enjoy

Always have to get in good with the door man
Me and Amy I had to tell her a secret (or kiss her on her ear LOL!)
 Give me some lovin!!! LOl
It pays to be the DJ!!!!
She didn't want to be left out!!!!
You motorboatin SOB!!!!! (they are built for speed, not comfort)
Me trying to hold up the brick wall.
Me and my friend Stacy's Mom...lol
 Me and Alysia
Amy got tired of me getting kisses from all the other girls so she smacked me!!!!

Special thanks to Preach for taking the pictures!!!!!

We finished at 2am and me and preach headed home, but not before stopping at hardee's for some breakfast.  I also have a wedding tomm night that will keep me and preach busy.  I want to say has been the best night in a long time.

The one that got away

Sorry that it has been so long since I have posted a blog.  I have been working and dealing with health issues that you guys know about.  I just wanted to say before I write this blog that I don’t go to the ER everyday. It has just been a coincidence that all this stuff has happened in the last month and a half.  Thanks to everyone that has been there for all of it.   Preach and I have always made the best out of every situation.

There have been a couple of special women in my life. I thank God for each of them, but there has been one that got away and not a day goes by without thinking of her. We have to go back to 2006 for this story (this was before I got sick). I was working three jobs trying to make it in the world. I was single, young, wild, and free. I had never really thought about marriage or a really deep relationship before. My friends have had them, but I never experienced it and wanted to.

I was working at a sports marketing company and I met the woman of my dreams.  She was a client that my company was working for.  I was in charge of the event with a buddy of mine, so I was walking around making sure everything was in order and I got to spend a lot of time with her.  I could tell that she was into me maybe more so than I was into her. It was funny. I remember that everyone that I worked for called me Train (my real name is Adam, but my dad called me Train) and she asked me “Do I have to call you Train?”  I just laughed. I replied, “I don’t care what you call me as long as you call.”

It was an all day event, so afterwards we exchanged numbers and that was the start of the best year and a half relationship that I ever had. I don’t want to include her name, but you can use your imagination.

All my life, it has only been me. Don’t get me wrong, I had dated before, but this was something special.  This was the first time that I WANTED to come home and just stay home.  I had never had that and this girl made me understand the concept of a real relationship.

The reason I have been thinking about this so much is due to my schedule which leaves me with a lot of free time and I miss the time that we had to share with each other.
I also see on Facebook at least once a day that a young woman has been wronged in a relationship and I think to myself that I could be great and that I have a lot to give someone.

Also, in my hometown there isn’t really a large market of girls that I’m looking for.  If you don’t sleep with someone right off the bat you are looked at like there is something wrong with you.

Also, I come from a broken home and I had step parents, so I understand that game and I really don’t want to enter a relationship with a woman that has kid(s). I won’t say never, but I will have an open mind.

In closing, I just want to say that I did enjoy having that special someone to come home to at night, but single life is fun as well…I really enjoyed her company and the understanding that she brought to me about what it means to actually care about someone.

Is Normal really Normal?

I lived almost 30 years of life and I can’t really believe it.  I have done a lot of things in my life.  I was in the Navy for almost 4 years.  I have traveled the world and seen places that most have only dreamed of. I have held almost every title in the restaurant business.  I have met many wonderful people in my life that have made me what I am today.  Before my illness happened, I was working three jobs. I was very active in sports (playing basketball any chance I got).  However, when I turned 26 my life changed.

(If you want to look at my past blogs, it tells the detailed story about what happened.)

In Dec of 2008 my life as I knew it changed.

I lost the use of my feet…I had my right foot amputated at the ankle and I lost three toes on my left foot due to my illness.  I was in a wheelchair for almost a year. As of now, I am up walking, driving and I have a lot of my mobility back (which is a great thing).  Being that active and then having it all taken away was something that was very hard to live with.

I mentioned in my last post that Preach and my Brother are very important to me.  Without their help, I couldn’t have made it through this hard time.

Just think to yourself.  What would you do if you couldn’t use your feet?  It’s really, really, really depressing not being able to do the simple things that I used to do.  I live about a half a block from a gas station in town and with the weather starting to get better now, it would be awesome to walk to get a soda. It’s those little things that people have a hard time understanding.

I also live about an hour from St. Louis Mo and the Cardinals (baseball team) did rather well last season winning the World Series.  One of my buddies called me during the games…

Buddy: Hey, got an extra Cards ticket, do you want to go?

Me: Man, I would love too, but I would have to take my wheelchair. Is there room?

Buddy: No, man. I just have an extra seat. I don’t have room for your chair, man. Sorry.

Now I know he wasn’t being insensitive by any means. On the other hand, it is something that I have to consider in everything that I do from now on.  It really makes anything that I want to do a hassle.  The last three years have been very difficult to plan any trips or to go anywhere without knowing the conditions before I go.

Another thing I love to do is during Halloween.  Haunted Houses have been a really fun thing to do since I was a kid.  I have helped in a many of them around my community for several years.  This last year, Preach wanted to go to Talon Falls in Paducah KY. This haunted house is rated as one of the best in the country, but it’s not wheelchair accessible!!! So I couldn’t go on that trip either.

I don’t want is this to become a pity party for me.  I have come to the realization that my life has changed. My point is to get information out to the readers that aren’t handicapped. To have a small glimpse of what I go through on a daily basis.

Also, my illness (Lumeirre’s Syndrome)  was featured on ”Oprah” and on the hit tv show ”House” because it’s so rare.  Here is a picture of what the title means to me.

I agree, House, that NORMAL IS OVERRATED!!!!!
